Eight adventurous Savioke employees traded their car keys for bike helmets last month to compete in the Team Bike Challenge, a fun commute competition sponsored by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.
The month-long cycling challenge tested the physical stamina and mental toughness of the group, who battled injury, business travel, spring flu, and laziness to finish the event with glory and bragging rights. In the extra small company category, Savioke’s team rode almost 800 miles to rank third in Santa Clara county and tenth across the entire bay area. In the team category, the “Relayers” (named for our reliable, friendly delivery robot Relay) ranked 30 (out of more than 300) in Santa Clara country and 51st bay area wide.
Best of all, the Relayers burned 35,000 calories and saved 1439 lbs of CO2 emission over the course of the month.
The Team Bike Challenge is a fun commute competition taking place during National Bike Month (May) that encourages friends and colleagues to form teams of two to five people to compete against other teams throughout the Bay Area. Team members will earn points every time they ride their bikes and for every mile they pedal. Whether you’re riding to work, school, the park or almost anywhere else, you will earn points along the way. One team will be crowned from each county.
